MVC (Model View Controller)

Model View Controller for web applications flow diagram

Some of our clients require a level of structure and separation between the different layers of the web / mobile software application, usually to help compliance standards. At SE Designs we work with the industry standard Model View Controller (MVC) architecture which is a widely used structured programming model, also known as a pattern architecture. The basic form of MVC has been around since the late 1970's.

The MVC pattern provides clear spearation when developing complex websites and mobile applications.

Our web-based projects typically involve the use of an MVC based framework to considerably speed up development whilst enhancing security and compliance standards. Here are some of the frameworks we currently use:

  • SE Designs CMS
  • CodeIgnitor (Framework only)
  • Agile Toolkit (Framework only)
  • Joomla (CMS)
  • Open Cart (eCommerce).

The process for website application from testing to live is a 3-Stage process:

  1. Development in our local environment.
  2. Upload for testing and approval on a staging server.
  3. Release to the live server.

This process ensures a smooth transition for bug fixes, developments and feature updates prior to entering the public domain.
